Cottages to rent to sleep at least 12 for Christmas

The important questions to ask about renting holiday cottages for Christmas are:

  1. whether the cottage is decorated for Christmas,
  2. is there a Christmas tree?
  3. will the table seat 12?
  4. and is there sufficient crockery for 12 people?
  5. and if it's important to you, is there a log fire.

Getting away for a self catering break at Christmas

Somehow Christmas is far nicer in the country. Imagine a large farmhouse with log fires of cosy woodburners, welcoming lamps in the window and places for a stroll after lunch to work off all those mince pies and Christmas pud.

Modern houses and apartments are never large enough to enable everyone to get together without a squash. Rent a large cottage for 12 or more and enjoy time to talk about things as well as just eat your way through mounds of festive food.

Christmas away can be a time to play games together, charades in the drawing room, a singsong around the piano. If the weather of recent years continues, there may be a chance of a white Christmas.

Lots of towns such as York and Bath in England host Christmas markets in the run up to Christmas, there are also plenty of others abroad. Belgium and Germany are well known for their Christmas markets selling gingerbread and treats. Another destination to consider is Cracow in Poland where the Christmas market in the old town square lasts for about a month. See about renting a large self catering house near Cracow and Zakopane for Christmas and New Year. Snow is virtually guaranteed there as a bonus.
